Intro To Handgun Class (4:30PM - 8:30PM)
  • $125 for novice or new shooters
  • No firearms experience, firearms, or equipment is required
Students must be 21 unless accompanied by an adult for the entire course.  This is not a course for CCW.  The 4-hour Introduction to Shooting Course is limited to 10 students and is geared toward the novice or new shooter that has little or no firearms experience at all.  The class is recommended for people who are interested in beginning shooting or thinking about purchasing a firearm but are not sure of what type of firearm they want.  The class begins with the nomenclature of different types of pistols and ammunition.  Safe firearm handling is introduced and stressed from the beginning of the class.  After handgun familiarization the class reinforces fundamental firearm safety and the fundamentals of good marksmanship.  On the range each member of the class is given the opportunity to fire rounds from a revolver and a semi-auto of different calibers to get a feel for the different types of handguns and calibers.  Covered under the $125 registration fee are all materials, firearms, and ammunition used in this class.  In addition, graduates receive a coupon for 5% off of their next new handgun purchase.

*SHOOTER MUST BE EXPERIENCED FROM THE HOLSTER.

Required Equipment:

Your own Firearm

Leather belt

Strong side holster

Magazine pouch or speed loader pouch

Speed loaders or 2 magazines to hold 18 rounds or 3 magazines to hold at least 6 rounds each*

Eye and ear protection (must rent if you do not own)

120 rounds of ammunition

Note: 5 shot revolvers are acceptable but 50 points will automatically be forfeited from your qualification score.

Cost $175. The 12-hour Concealed Firearm Course was developed around the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services Course for Armed Security Officers and with input from the Fairfax County Police Department. The course covers the Virginia Concealed Weapons Law; federal, state and local restrictions; the Virginia law concerning the use of deadly force; firearm maintenance and safe storage; equipment and ammunition selection; proper loading and shooting techniques; and, concludes with a written exam. The firearm proficiency portion of the course if a 60-round, 300 point modified PPC Course designed to give the student practice and experience in drawing and firing at a stationary target under pressure. The course is fired at three distances: 3 yards, 7 yards and 15 yards.

Passing for both the written and proficiency tests is 70%. Within 5 days of successful completion of the course a certificate and training completion form will be issued to the student. The training completion form provides all of the information required by the courts to receive your permit and the certificate is suitable for hanging.

No refunds.

If rescheduling, students have 72 hours to reschedule without incurring additional costs.

Classes may be changed up to 3 times or 90 days.

There will be a $25.00 fee for additional copies of certificate.
